Dr. Andrew Gibson
Thanks for Inquiring into Parenting Angry Children & Teens (P.A.C.T.). We hope you will take the time to review the website thoroughly. The address is noted above. The site contains a lot of information pertaining to P.A.C.T. that will assist you in making a decision. You will note that accompanying this note is a brochure. Please read it carefully. There are three quizzes in the brochure you will need to take. These quizzes will help determine whether or not you are a good prospective client for P.A.C.T.. If you do well on them and are interested in enrollment, you have two options.

1. DCF: The State Department of Children and Families (DCF) often uses P.A.C.T. with the families that it serves. If you are currently a DCF client, down load the application from the website (after you have completed the brochure), take it to your social worker and discuss the possibility of joining P.A.C.T. with him or her. If your worker is not familiar with the program, ask him/her to call this office and I will give them the name of the contact person in their office that they should be speaking with. Or they can ask their Area Director or Director of Mental Health.

If you are not a client of DCF, there is a DCF program you may be interested in: it is called 'DCF Voluntary Services'. Voluntary Services exists as a way of getting services to families who could not get those services otherwise. Voluntary Services is safety valve of sorts in that it attempts to head-off problems in families that might end up as abuse or neglect. There is, however, no suggestion of neglect or abuse if you use Voluntary Services; in fact, quite the opposite is true. You can start or stop services at any time you choose. It is a good deal and most clients are pleased with the experience. Call 1-800-842-2288 and ask for Voluntary Services. The process takes about three months. Acceptance is not automatic. DCF may suggest other programs for you to try. Be open to their suggestions. Complete the application (available on the website) and share it with the DCF Social Worker when they visit you after you have been accepted into Voluntary Services.

If your local DCF office is New Britain, Norwich or Willimantic, please consult this office. Special enrollment requirements exist.

2. Privately: If you want to engage P.A.C.T. privately, the minimum fee is $150 per session. Fees range higher depending on the location in Connecticut where the client resides. At minimum, one year's service (or 52 sessions) equals $7,800.00 all of which will be taken as a retainer in advance. If you take less than one year to complete, the pro rated difference will be returned to you. If you take longer than a year to complete, you will be billed for the remainder. The remainder will be determined by an estimate of the progress you made during the last 90 days. Progress is very straight-forward. It is based upon the amount of time it takes you to learn a goal. You will be required to sign a form indicating that you will complete the entire program. To initiate service, down load and complete theapplication. Then make contact with this office and we will establish the first appointment at which time you will make payment.

P.A.C.T. does not accept insurance. There currently are no other payment vehicles available other than DCF or Private.

The website gives a listing of P.A.C.T. presentations offered to parents, therapists and DCF Social Workers throughout the state. Check it from time to time to see if a presentation is offered in your area. It is often a good idea to attend a session before enrollment but is not required.
